People across Western Washington are pouring in support for the Israeli community amid the recent Hamas attacks.
The Israeli American Council will rally in Bellevue at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and are urging people to remain peaceful and not respond to provocation following a5 things to know as Israel declares war on Hamas following the militant group's unprecedented attack
In a time of mourning for the victims of the terror attack and their families, the IAC said the Monday rally will be one way of showing they are standing united in solidarity with the state of Israel and its people, including their loved ones.A spokesperson with the IAC described waking up Saturday to the unspeakable horror, learning of Hamas’s attack across Israel's southern border with Gaza.
“We condemn in one voice this despicable, murderous terrorist onslaught on innocent communities throughout the country and affirm Israel’s inalienable right to defend itself fully and completely,” the IAC told KOMO News in an emailed statement. “We mourn the loss of those who were murdered and send our condolences to their families and loved ones. We are fervently praying for the health and safety of all affected.
It’s unclear if they are expecting counter-protesters following the heated confrontation in Kirkland Sunday involving Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestine demonstrators. Groups began yelling at each other and one demonstrator said he was attacked. Police had to come in and separate the two groups.The IAC said they will not disclose the location until it's closer to the event's start time for safety reasons. There will also be a police presence at the rally.
