The president is set to meet relatives of hostages and those killed in Hamas attacks, one day after a blast at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City left hundreds dead.
TEL AVIV — President Biden landed here Wednesday morning in a dramatic show of support for Israel amid its ongoing war with Hamas and growing concerns that the conflict will broaden to include other adversaries while the civilian death toll in both Israel and Gaza continues to climb. In Tel Aviv, Biden will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and join a meeting of the government’s war cabinet.
He is also scheduled to visit with first responders, families of victims of Hamas’ attack and relatives of individuals who are currently being held hostage by Hamas, White House officials said. Biden had planned to then travel to Amman, Jordan, but just as Air Force One started rolling down the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews, White House officials alerted reporters that the Jordan visit was scrapped.
