They have an array of cameras through which human controllers can see where the robot is going, and sirens that go off if the robot detects it is being tampered with.
Starship first started serving students in George Mason University, and has since spread to Northern Arizona University and Pittsburgh University. Bayer said that on the three campuses where Starship currently operates it has seen a pretty constant stream of orders from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner, to late night."Students are eating all of the time," he said, although he emphasised that late night had been a particular success.
