Inside the pet rescue caring for special needs animals
"We started rescuing and fostering about 6 years ago. The rescue was inspired and named after our sweet boy, Pumpkin. He was our first special needs baby," the owner of Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue, Melissa Lamprey told"Pumpkin was in a shelter and scheduled for euthanasia due to being sick. His illnesses were treatable, but most shelters in Los Angeles do not have the time, space or resources to treat sick, injured, or very young animals," Lamprey said.
"We deal with everything from hernia repair to leg removal to brain issues," said Lamprey."These animals most often require surgery and longer-term care for a disability, birth defect or injury. We provide the animal with all medical care needed to get into its best possible condition." "We hope to inspire and educate others through our own humorous adventures to foster, rescue and adopt—especially the 'imperfect babies,'" said Lamprey.
