, the team behind the James Bond films, Lively is nearly unrecognizable in the gritty thriller. Thealum stars as a young woman on a path of self-destruction after her entire family is killed in a plane crash. When she discovers that the crash was not an accident, she seeks revenge on those responsible. Lively’s role in the film marks the first time where she shows off gun-wielding skills and fighting abilities.
“Doing this movie was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Lively said at the film’s New York screening, held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday—where she made her first official public appearance since she and husband Ryan Reynolds welcomed their third child. “Every day I was like, ‘Why am I doing this? I can’t pull this off.
Lively was so caught up in her character’s physicality that she injured her hand while filming a four-minute long fight sequence with her Law. Her injury required surgery, and shut down the movie’s production for six months. “Jude and I really went for it, and I somehow hurt my hand. I give myself so much credit for that. That’s why I keep on posting my hand injury on social media,” she joked. “I will not let anyone forget that. I gave my right hand for this movie!”
