The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who walked away from the county jail in Golden on Friday.

Richard Trevithick, 37, has been missing since around midday on Friday when he was able to walk out of the booking area at the detention facility located at 200 Jefferson County Parkway and board an eastbound train at the nearby RTD rail station, officials say.

Trevithick had been arrested on two counts of failure to appear in court related to drunk driving charges. On Friday, he was being transferred from Douglas County to JeffCo, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jenny Fulton. After he and other inmates arrived at the JeffCo jail, Tevitchick’s handcuffs were removed so he could walk through a body scanner. That provided him with a window to walk away.
