Plain City, Ohio, police are investigating the cause of death of the infant, which is believed to be between birth and 1 month old.
PLAIN CITY, Ohio — Police are searching for answers after the body of an infant was found Thursday in the back of a garbage truck in this city just west of Columbus.
According to a news release from the Plain City Police Department, the operators of a garbage truck reported at 2:19 p.m. that what they thought was a human body was in the rear hopper/collection area of the truck. EMS workers arrived and said the body was a full-term infant believed to be between birth and 1 month old.
The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy Friday to determine the cause of death and the infant’s gender, police say.
