Belloq, Donovan, and Hitler clearly do not hold any genuine humility before either artifact, only seeing them as tools for claiming divine power for themselves.
Indy comes to understand the unimaginable might the Ark wields, and which is what saves his and Marion's lives. With the Holy Grail, Indy heeds the knight's warning and only uses it to heal the mortally wounded Henry, and in both cases, Indy shows the plot holes of the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail have a purpose.
