Two suspected militants have been killed in a gunfight with government forces in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Troops also exchanged fire Saturday with a militant who was trapped in a house in the disputed region’s main city of Srinagar.

Residents said the troops torched the home where the rebel was trapped, a common tactic employed by Indian troops in the Himalayan region. There was no independent confirmation of the incident.
