Dan Rubin's fresh take on Reinhold Weege's original concept allows a new group of characters to carry the torch, while also creating its own sense of individuality. Among the 2023 show's main cast is BTVA nominee, India de Beaufort, who plays the Manhattan Night Court's newest district attorney, Olivia Moore.
Night Court Season 2 Explores A More Vulnerable Side Of India De Beaufort's Character Screen Rant: We've learned a lot about your character over the past year, so I'm curious what your initial thoughts were when you first read the pilot script versus your thoughts on Olivia two seasons later. On that same note, Abby is not the type of person that Olivia is typically friends with, given how opposite they are. That's part of what makes them so great. What are your thoughts on how that relationship has evolved?
India de Beaufort: New. It was a challenge, and I like a challenge. I've been on plenty one-hour shows where a character's loved one passes, or they're going through some kind of emotional experience, so being connected with the emotional side of myself, as an actor, is not unusual for me. But certainly taking Olivia there is a departure from what I'm used to. I really enjoyed it.
India de Beaufort: Oh, so fun. Paul Scheer and I worked together on Veep a few years ago. My husband and his wife know each other, so I already had a bit of experience being in Paul's company, which is delightful and filled with laughter and dry humor. Rob was also great. The combination of the two of them is just so funny.
