Manh Choh Mine and federal funds expected to provide employment boost in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Dept. of Labor has released a forecast for jobs in 2024. For the Fairbanks North Star Borough the forecast is promising albeit small with an anticipated increase of 1.4%. This would mean an addition 500 jobs in theory.
In 2023 the borough averaged about 37,000 jobs with 2024 likely to rise to 37,500. About 27,200 of those jobs belonging to the private sector. The biggest drivers in the growing job market include the Manh Choh Mine and an influx of federal funds meant for infrastructure.
