Two people were injured after a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after taking off from San Carlos Airport on Tuesday.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the airport shortly after 11:45 a.m. on reports of a possible crash. When deputies arrived, damage was found on the northeast section of the airport.
Deputies also found the pilot and passenger at the scene. Firefighters said two people suffered minor injuries.The Redwood City Fire Department told KPIX 5 that the plane took off from the airport, turned around and was forced to make an immediate landing. Officials said the plane landed adjacent to the airport on Skyway Road and went through a fence.
San Mateo County officials said the situation is"stable" and there are no safety concerns for the public. It was not immediately known what prompted the pilot to make a landing. Deputies said the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified about the incident and will lead the investigation.
