In October 2022, James Gunn and Peter Safran were announced as the co-CEOs of the newly formed DC Studios, and along with their appointment, they swiftly announced the DC Universe would be reborn.
Superman Releases In Exactly 1 Year Flying Onto The Big Screen Close Superman, briefly titled Superman: Legacy, is set to not only introduce David Corenswet as the new face of the DCU, in a way that will potentially echo Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, but also to explore a new, more hopeful iteration of the character than what has been shown in recent years. While the film will not be an origin story for the Man of Steel, it will be the first official outing for the legendary hero.
However, it was another 30 years before the character received an adaptation that would live on in perpetuity thanks to the incredible performance as Superman by Christopher Reeve in the Richard Donner films that would define the character for the next half a century. Since that time, precious few actors have been privileged to take up the mantle and don the red cape of The Last Son of Krypton.
