Architect Tom Ramsey and attorney Jennifer Long were tied with 1,511 votes each. Long was appointed to the council following the resignation of Councilman Tim Rood, who moved out of Piedmont earlier this year.
The other three challengers were Jeanne Solnordal, Bridget McInerney Harris and Sunny Bostrom-Fleming. McInerney-Harris drew 678 votes. Solnordal received 466 votes and Bostrom-Fleming garnered 92 votes. McInerney Harris did not participate in the League of Women Voters Piedmont virtual forum because she had an out-of-town commitment.
Vice-Mayor Jen Cavanaugh will likely serve as the city’s new mayor but that will be finalized at an upcoming City Council meeting. Those voted into these positions will serve on the school board and City Council for four years without pay.
