Harris County housing groups to use $7.5 million to help 5,000 minority renters become homeowners
On HoustonChronicle.com:The collaborative plans to use the money to support ways to reduce construction costs, such as offering manufactured or modular homes, which can be largely assembled in a warehouse before being installed onsite, and increasing access to affordable mortgage products.
The donation makes Houston one of the first eight markets where the Wells Fargo Foundation is rolling out what is calling its Wealth Opportunity Restored Through Homeownership, or WORTH, initiative, which will ultimately invest $60 millionacross the nation.
