Icy N.J. roads cause treacherous commute with 170 crashes, one fatality

Earlier, Gov. Phil Murphy said that number was 170 crashes during the morning rush and another 150 calls for motorist aid at 10:30 a.m., on WINS radio Wednesday morning. The trash truck was headed south on Route 34 near Spring Hill Road when the car cut in front of it, Old Bridge police said. Route 34 remained closed as of 9 a.m. while officers investigate.
