Hundreds of flights were grounded Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at Houston airports as part of a nationwide computer failure.Travelers through Houston’s airports should expect delays Wednesday morning asafter a computer failure at the Federal Aviation Administration, officials cautioned.
As of around 7 a.m., almost 300 flights had been delayed into and out of Houston’s airports amid a nationwide struggle, according to the flight tracking website,“Arriving and departing passengers should expect delays until the FAA continues to work on resolving its systemwide issues,” a spokesperson for Houston Airport System said.More than 177 flights had been delayed into and out of Hobby Airport, along with seven cancellations, according to FlightAware.
The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered all flights grounded until 8 a.m. to give officials time to work out the computer issue, Houston officials said. The agency is working to restore what is known as the Notice to Air Missions System, according to the Associated Press. There is a potential for widespread disruption because of the outage.
