The upcoming animated reboot is far from the first TMNT adaptation, with the franchise consisting of animated and live-action movies, TV shows, and video games. Despite these different iterations, one bizarre trend has emerged with the franchise's villains, one that will be seen again in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

Oddly, Rocksteady switches between his human and rhino forms in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, meaning that Sheamus got to both voice the character and play him in live action. Since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is animated, John Cena will only get to voice the character. However, it is an odd coincidence that two WWE stars have played the exact same TMNT villain, with the connection being so weird that it potentially seems intentional.
Why John Cena’s Rocksteady Casting Is Better Than Sheamus’ Despite them both being the same character, John Cena's Rocksteady casting is already a lot better than Sheamus'. Sheamus doesn't have a huge acting history outside of the TMNT movies, meaning that his portrayal of Rocksteady was coarser in both live-action and voice-over. John Cena's movie and TV acting career is much more prolific, however, meaning that Cena will probably have the chops to perfectly pull off Rocksteady.
On top of that, John Cena is just a much better match for Rocksteady. John Cena is large and loud, with his wrestling personality perfectly matching that of Rocksteady's. John Cena's memorable voice will also go a long way in bringing Rocksteady to life, with the actor fitting a lot better than Sheamus in this regard.
