A sixth-round rookie out of Oklahoma State, you shouldn’t have to be told that defense is usually an afterthought in the Big 12 conference. In a unit last fall led by Jim Knowles whose physical, aggressive approach to the defensive side of the football saw the Cowboys progress into one of the country’s top defenses, under Knowles’ tutelage, Rodriguez blossomed into one of the country’s premier second-level defenders.

Not only did Week 2 see him make plays like the one above, but he also led the Lions in tackles and was all over the place from whistle to whistle. A read-option look from Washington, Rodriguez’s ability to I.D. the run play to Antonio Gibson is beyond his years.
