“It all came from giving birth in New York. It all felt like science fiction….In America the C-section rate is 50% when it should be 12% according to the U.N. The healthcare system takes advantage of the insurance process because C-section is more expensive than actual birth…I thought omigod, they’re commodifying birth,” Barthes told us.
