The Federal Aviation Administration is issuing a ground delay for Newark, LaGuardia and Philadelphia airports due to smoke from the wildfires in Canada.
All three major New York and New Jersey airports — Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport — are experiencing delays. “As the wind shifts, we could have impacts in the Midwest, and we could have impacts further southeast in the United States,” the FAA’s Samuel Ausby explainedAlthough the major airports in the Bay Area are operating a normal schedule, the backup caused by a spattering of ground delays could cause a chain reaction across the country’s aviation network.
