Atlantic City will use $26 million in state and federal funding to repair its world-famous boardwalk.

With state and federal funds the upgrades will be completed over the next two years.Atlantic City, renowned for its bustling casinos, has hit the jackpot with a substantial $26 million grant earmarked for boardwalk renovations.

“Our hardworking men and women of the Pubic Works department service this boardwalk everyday, however it becomes a point where we’re just putting a bandaid on a wound,” Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. said at a press conference standing along the boardwalk. “This $20 million will address the structural needs that is conducive to a safer boardwalk.

In the fall, the project will advance to a more extensive phase using the recent $20 million grant to update older wooden planks and structural supports, starting from New Jersey Avenue to Tennessee Avenue. This major undertaking is anticipated to span two years.
