Discussions about adding full-day kindergarten in Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 have taken center stage, as two dozen parents spoke in favor of such a move at a recent board meeting.

“Every year, the district leadership examines new opportunities and revisits previously discussed topics to ensure that we continue to provide optimal opportunities for our students to thrive,” Garcia said.He said the vast majority of school districts throughout the state have shifted to a full-day kindergarten program.
“We want to ensure that we gather sufficient data and hear from the community as a whole,” Garcia said in regard to when a final decision likely would be made on whether to add the full-day program. “Since we have been able to effectively navigate the last three years of COVID, and this topic has not been discussed in several years, we felt it was necessary to review full-day kindergarten,” he said.
