Through its “Sasakyan ng Karunungan” initiative, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Caraga conducted a digital literacy training for the Higaonon tribe in Las Nieves, Agusan Del Norte.

The act, according to the department, was launched through the joint initiative of the 402nd Infantry “Stingers” Brigade, the Provincial Government of Agusan Del Norte, and in coordination of DICT Caraga.“The partners of this training launched the Mobile Community Literacy van in order to reach and deliver the needs of the underserved and unserved communities in terms of digital literacy,” said DICT Caraga on Friday, Dec. 16.

Earlier, DICT expressed its goal to end the so-called “digital divide” in the country by providing more opportunities for Filipinos in line with information and communications technology. Meanwhile, Higaonons, through the said “first level” digital literacy training, were taught the basic parts of a computer as well as Microsoft Productivity Tools.

The MCL van was launched in Barangay Lawan-lawan in Agusan Del Norte. The six-day initiative was held from Dec. 4 until Dec. 9, 2022.
