TOKYO Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz will spearhead the 13-member weightlifting team in the coming Vietnam Southeast Asian Games.Also joining the regional tournament slated on May 12 to 23 in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, are Fernando Agad Jr. , Rowel Garcia , Nestor Colonia , Lemon Denmark Tarro , John Kevin Padullo , John Dexter Tabique , Mary Flor Diaz , Rosegie Ramos , Margaret Colonia , Elreen Ann Ando , Vanessa Sarno and Kristel Macrohon .
John Ceniza, also a silver medalist in 2019, will not go to Vietnam after losing to Garcia in the qualifying event.Colonia is the only veteran in the men's team. Prior to his stint in the 2016 Rio Olympics, he won the gold medal in the 2015 Asian Championships and the bronze medal in the World Championships in the same year.The female lifters, on the other hand, managed to compete in two tournaments during the pandemic.
