She may not have won a medal in this year's 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, but Olympic weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz said representing the Philippines meant much to her.

'I may have missed bringing a medal for the Philippines at the #AsianGames, but to represent our country means so much to me,' Hidilyn said in a Facebook post on Tuesday night. The Philippines' first Olympic gold medalist made her Asian Games debut in her new 59 kg weight class.'The experience was priceless and the preparation for 3 weeks after my debut in a new weight class at the World Championships in Riyadh for me has improved,' she wrote.

She had thanked her husband-coach Julius Naranjo and her entire 'Team HD' for their support, as well as the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee for entrusting her for the support during her Asian Games run.'I'm thankful for all the people who believe in me, especially my team behind me, #TeamHD. They pushed me to my limits, and provided the motivation and assurance I needed to keep going,' Diaz wrote.
