After much speculation and internet guesswork, the next exotic location for HBO's hit series"The White Lotus" has been revealed. It's Thailand,The magazine is basing its reporting on"multiple sources close to the production" who also note that creator/director/writer Mike White"has been spending time in Thailand scoping out sites."
Even before the second season of"The White Lotus" ended, there was talk that the new season would be set somewhere in Asia. After all, the series -- set at a different location of a fictional resort chain called The White Lotus each season -- has taken place Hawaii and Italy so moving it beyond the U.S. and Europe makes sense.
White said as much in a video wrap-up of the second season. “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,” White said."I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Variety also points out that the previous seasons were shot at Four Seasons resorts and the hotel chain has four resort properties in Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai; Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.
