Politicians and groups that work with immigrants around Texas differed on what the decision means for those along the border.
Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement which said the ruling is “a positive development.”
U.S. Rep Joaquin Castro, a Democrat who represents San Antonio, focused on the effect the ruling will have on immigrant communities. Rep. August Pfluger. a Republican representing Midland, Odessa and other parts of West Texas, also tweeted his support Title 42: Fernando Garcia, executive director of the Border Network for Human Rights, an El-Paso based nonprofit, in a statement called the decision “morally wrong.”
