Alaskans looking to support the communities that were damaged by the historic storm over the weekend have several options, from charities and a fundraiser to a donation drop-off site.
There is also a donation drop-off at the heritage center. Organizers say communities affected are asking for canned goods, kids clothing, adult clothing and especially winter gear like gloves, hats, scarves, boots and jackets.
Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy issued a disaster declaration for the storm Saturday and requested a federal disaster declaration Tuesday.The World Central Kitchen has also sent supplies to the area, including to Golovin and Unalakleet.
