Nearly 3.5 inches of rain fell Wednesday night into Thursday morning in Parma.
“We had 1.41 inches of rain in about a 30-minute timeframe,” Parma Service Director Tony Vannello said.Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter said the rain caused intersection closures at a half-dozen locations around the community.
The irony of the recent trapped vehicle calls -- confirming the unpredictability and fickleness of rainstorms -- was the fact they didn’t involve a flash flood of Big Creek stranding drivers on Brookpark Road and in the nearby Sam’s Club parking lot.“We didn’t have anything by Sam’s Club, which was unusual,” he said.Parma Clerk of Council said her office received five calls from residents on Westminster Drive.
“Fortunately they were open and able to take some capacity from the onset of the storm,” Vannello said. “Obviously with the volume of water that came through there, those systems were at full limit.
