ICYMI: Health-care unions criticize Sask. government for emergency order
The order, which is set to be renewed Monday, will allow the government to redeploy health-care workers, as the province continues to address the COVID-19 pandemic within the health system.
“It’s hypocritical for the government to extend an emergency order at the same time as it is lifting all other public safety measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Bashir Jalloh, president of CUPE 5430, is quoted as saying health-care workers are exhausted mentally and physically.Article content Following a request for a statement regarding the criticism contained within the release, a government spokesperson directed the Leader-Post to a previous comment by the premier that as soon as the “health care system is able to function” without having to use the act to redeploy health care workers, the emergency act will be lifted.
