A man received a decades-long sentencing on Friday in the Palmer Courthouse for the 2019 murder of Terry Spencer.
Cooper Gordon was sentenced to 56 years in prison for the October, 2019, murder of then 32-year-old Terry Spencer whose body was found on a trail in WasillaPALMER, Alaska - of then 32-year-old Spencer, whose body was discovered by a hunter on an all-terrain vehicle trail in Wasilla. He was found with a gunshot wound to his head.
“Given Mr. Gordon’s lengthy, violent criminal history, there is a need for confinement to prevent harm to the public,” Woodman said. “The court finds the circumstances of the offense present grave risk to the public. Mr. Gordon stands convicted of killing someone who considered him a close friend and the apparent motive was to steal the victim’s possessions. In order to deter others, a significant sentence of imprisonment is warranted.
“I will never forget the way that our mother screamed,” said Audrey Cucullu, one of Spencer’s sisters. “She was slapping her legs and her arms saying, ‘no, no, no, no,’ over and over again.”
