HOUSTON — A Harris County grand jury declined to charge a Houston police officer who shot and killed a man last year. That's according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
Jalen Randle was shot and killed in April 2022 by HPD officer Shane Privette as officers were trying to arrest him on three felony warrants. The Randle family was being represented by prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump. He and his team have said they will not stop until justice is served. According to the district attorney's office, it's policy for a grand jury to consider charges in deadly shootings involving officers. On April 27, 2022, the Houston Police Department's Narcotics Tactical Team was looking for Randle, who was wanted on three felony warrants. Randle got into the passenger seat of a car and the driver refused to stop for police. After a short pursuit, Randle got out of the car.
