A Pacific cold front could bring hail and damaging winds to the San Antonio area Friday morning.

Isolated, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday night into Friday across the Southern Edwards Plateau into the Hill Country, NWS warned Wednesday morning. NWS added that the"greatest threat" is large to very large hail, around 1 to 2 inches in diameter. This comes as part of a Pacific cold front coming through the area, which cools the area down but not significantly.
"The risk is really for Friday morning," said Keith White, lead forecaster for NWS New Braunfels."Things have slowed down significantly and won't arrive to San Antonio proper until near or after sunrise on Friday. We don't think there's that high of a risk for San Antonio.
"There will be a weakening line of thunderstorms moving through on Friday morning, and we can't completely rule out the chance of extreme weather, but it's unlikely," White said."The biggest risks are damaging wind gusts and large hail, but that diminishes near San Antonio." In addition, chances of rain have diminished for the San Antonio area overnight Thursday into Friday morning; NWS predicts 40 percent chances and rainfall amounts ranging from as little as nothing to a couple of tenths of an inch at most.
