State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday said light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over 13 areas in Luzon and Visayas due to the Southwest Monsoon and low pressure area (LPA).
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the affected areas are Bicol Region, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Bataan, Zambales, Quezon, Aurora, and Isabela.
PAGASA also warned of possible scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides in areas prone to such hazards and those with significant antecedent rainfall. “Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazards maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” it said.
It also advised the public and concerned disaster risk reduction and management offices to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. “PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue local heavy rainfall warnings, rainfall/thunderstorm advisories and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate,” it said.“This weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours,” PAGASA said.
