San Diego has outscored Bakersfield, Ontario and Henderson 13-1 during winning streak
A combination of sharp goalie play, solid defense and balanced scoring earned the Gulls a 6-1 victory over visiting Henderson on Wednesday night and has them on a three-game winning streak.
The Gulls were outshot 35-23 but killed off all four Henderson power plays and cashed in two of three power-play chances against a Silver Knights lineup depleted by recent NHL call-ups. The victory moved the seventh-place Gulls six points behind sixth-place Henderson in the Pacific standings.Meanwhile, the Gulls could be getting a nice lineup boost after Anaheim Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek made his first trade ahead of this Monday’s NHL deadline.
Helleson, a 6-foot-3, 191-pounder from Farmington, Minn., played with USA’s World Junior U-20 championship team in 2021 and played with Team USA in the recent winter Olympics.He was drafted in the second round of the 2019 draft by Colorado and signed a three-year entry level contract with the Ducks.
