There's no denying Kwan still had an unbelievable rookie season ⚾
Ballots, submitted prior to postseason play, were cast by two writers representing each league city. They are tabulated on a system that awards five points for first place, three points for second place, one point for third place. Kwan received 10 second-place votes and 14 third-place votes to finish with 44 total points.
Kwan said he did not expect his role on the club to be as big as it was at the beginning of the year. Kwan’s ability to control the strike zone was elite. He boasted a 9.0% whiff rate, the second best mark in the majors and the fifth best by any hitter in the StatCast Era . His 9.4% strikeout rate was lowest by a Cleveland rookie since Jolbert Cabrera in 2000.
