The man who was attacked by a grizzly bear in Montana will soon be leaving the University of Utah hospitaland returning to his home in Montana.

Noorlander was attacked by a grizzly bear on Sept. 8, 2023, south of Big Sky, Mont. After emergency surgery in Bozeman, Noorlander was flown to the University of Utah Hospital where he has continued his care.
Katelyn spoke on her dad's behalf, saying, "a huge thank you for all of the support, all of the love and all of the prayers. The kindness from strangers and friends has been overwhelming." Rudy is used to bear sightings, as he works and lives near Big Sky, Montana. His first bear encounter was when he was 10 years old.
