A reporter asked Morris Berger who he'd prefer to dine with if he was able to choose between three non-football historical figures — living or dead. 'This is probably not going to get a good review, but I’m going to say Adolf Hitler,' Berger said.

Grand Valley State University offensive coordinator Morris Berger was suspended following public comments the assistant coach made referencing Adolph Hitler. The school announced the suspension Monday and is investigating the matter., that he'd choose to dine with Adolf Hitler. The comment almost immediately drew backlash after publication.

"This is probably not going to get a good review, but I’m going to say Adolf Hitler," Berger said."It was obviously very sad, and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second-to-none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you can’t deny he wasn’t a great leader."

Berger was hired on Jan. 20 as the replacement for departed coordinator Jack Ginn, and he was also expected to coach the quarterbacks in the 2020 campaign. Previously, he spent time as a quality control coach at Oklahoma State and assistant at Texas State .
