BECAUSE of water and sanitation issues facing evacuation centers in Albay for residents fleeing the eruption of Mayon Volcano, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has activated the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) subcluster and is also coordinating with the Department of Health (DoH).

Contributed PhotoAccording to Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito 'Raffy' Alejandro 4th, the OCD is waiting for data from the eight affected local government units to 'decide on the best support and interventions for the identified gaps,' as well as including the needs of the families.
'We will do the cluster approach and closely coordinate with concerned agencies to address these identified gaps,' said Alejandro on Tuesday.In addition, the OCD official said the agency's filtration units are ready to evacuate more families to the centers.Albay Gov. Edcel Greco Lagman also ordered the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office to consolidate the data that will be submitted to national agencies for funding support.In its 5 a.m.
