Many voters are wondering what's next after Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Lyman secured over 60% of the votes against Governor Cox at the state GOP convention.“They vet the candidates, they talk a lot to the candidates," Lyman said.
“You have to convince the delegates at the convention that you are the right person for the job," Herbert said. "Talk about your track record, your experience, what your vision for the future is as opposed to just what we’ve done in the past."“Well, most people think that the caucus convention system, the delegates tend to be a little more conservative, maybe a little more extreme. Same thing with the democrats, a little more left leaning,” Herbert said.
Now that the primary is getting closer, Herbert said to keep an eye out for what candidate aligns with your values. “There will be rallies, there’ll be mailers, commercials on television,” Herbert said. “I expect from both candidates.”He said, “We got a lot of events we're getting scheduled, some rallies that are going to be exciting and try to get all over the state to do rallies and connect with people."
