COLUMBUS, Ohio — A growing number of Ohio Republicans are calling for the resignation of a GOP state lawmaker accused of assaulting two relatives in July and then violating a restraining order related to the incident earlier this month.
“This is a matter obviously that is up to the General Assembly,” DeWine said. “But these are some serious charges. It’s not a good situation. So, yeah, I think he should resign.” Stephens also has called on Young, who supported Stephens’s speakership, to resign. Stephens also removed Young from a committee leadership position following Young’s arrest last week.. Initially, Young assaulted the first relative at Young’s home in Green following a political event, throwing the relative’s phone into a swimming pool when they tried to call 911.
