Chris Pratt explains how Peter Quill is impacted by the loss of Gamora and how the Guardians take care of him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. When Peter learned of Gamora's death in Avengers: Infinity War, he was so overcome by grief that he ruined the plan to take down Thanos, allowing him to wipe out half the universe, including Peter himself and most of the Guardians. Since returning, he has mourned her loss, unable to move past his grief, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
Chris Pratt: The loss of Gamora really reverberated through the Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's left Peter Quill in a pretty rough spot. Because he's not present, and he's not being the leader that he should be, that actually opens the Guardians up to vulnerability. That's why ultimately he spends the rest of the movie trying to make up for it and feeling pretty bad about it.
