Combine an old Thai folktale of a crocodile prince, 70s psychedelic soul sounds, and a contemporary twist, and you are looking at the latest album by H 3 F.
Title track ‘Catwalk’ is a blues pop song that talks about people who want to be accepted by society so much that they do things that they don’t want to, and that eventually they “drown in misery”.
Written with Phum Viphurit, this track started as a group jam session until the music structure was done, with the lyrics following. The whole process was initially put on hold as Phum Viphurit became unavailable during the writing process. When they eventually picked it up again, ‘Catwalk’ took 3 days to assemble, with the band calling it “the longest 3 days” of their lives.
Chalawan Sound is now available on all major streaming platforms. Catch H 3 F live in Singapore as they perform for AXEAN Festival on Oct. 28 and 29.
