In Urban Philippines, GMA’s SONA 2024 coverage tallied an even higher combined people rating of 8.9 percent or 3.9 million viewers. It significantly outperformed TV5/RPTV’s “SONA 2024 Ulat ng Pangulo” and A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s “State of the Nation Address 2024: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage,” which only logged 1.9 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
As the “News Authority ng Filipino,” GMA Integrated News’ SONA coverage commenced early morning via Unang Hirit’s Unang Balita and continued in its flagship newscast 24 Oras, which presented the speech highlights and a series of special reports on the Marcos administration. Late-night newscast Saksi, GTV’s Dobol B TV, Balitanghali, Dapat Alam Mo!, and State of the Nation also provided updates to viewers about the whole day’s biggest and most relevant stories.
