Recalled are certain 2014-207 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles.
General Motors has recalled almost 1 million vehicles because the driver’s side air bag inflator may explode when it is deployed.According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the recall includes - 244,304 Buick Enclave, 457,316 Chevrolet Traverse and 293,143 GMC Acadia.
The “manufacturing defect” will be fixed free of charge. A rupture of the inflator “may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.”a demand from The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that ARC Automotive Inc. of Knoxville recall 67 million inflators in the U.S. because they could explode and hurl shrapnel. At least two people have been killed in the U.S. and Canada, and seven others have been hurt as a result of defective ARC inflators, the agency said.Dealers will replace the driver’s air bag module. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 26, 2023. Owners will receive another letter when the fix is available.
According to the NHTSA, at least a dozen automakers have the allegedly faulty inflators in use, including Volkswagen, Ford, BMW and GM.
