Immaculate Heart Academy shuts out Northern Highlands for first county title since 2014
Third seeded Immaculate Heart Academy, ranked #2 in the NJ.com Top 20, shut out fourth seeded, #8 ranked Northern Highlands by a 3-0 margin on a windy day at River Dell High School in Oradell to win its first Bergen County title since 2014.
That next level was where Forshay got the scoring started, finding the back of the net with a long distance strike at the 34:28 mark of the second half. Of the 39 goals IHA has scored this season, 29 of them have came off the foot of Forshay or Barry. A pair of Division I talents, Forshay is committed to play for Bryant University in Rhode Island next year, while Barry will be taking her talents to the Ivy League as a Princeton commit.
Barry echoed a similar sentiment about her teammate, noting that as good as the two of them are individually, their play on the field together allows them to bring out the best in each other.“I always say to her ‘it’s me and her against the world.’ When you’re going up top and you have someone like Caitlin next to you it makes things a lot easier. I trust her with everything.
