Members of the team led by Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua, deputy team manager and PBA commissioner Willie Marcial were presented with a plaque of commemoration before PBA chairman Ricky Vargas formally opened the brand new season of the league. Gilas also had a parade around the Big Dome before the start of the programme that also featured the beautiful muses of each of the 12 teams of the PBA.
Other muses include actresses Heaven Peralejo for Barangay Ginebra, Franki Russell for San Miguel, Yukii Takahashi for Phoenix, and Herlene Budol for Blackwater.
