On the night after Team USA's record-breaking win against China, the Americans showed no mercy after pulling off a 141-45 assault against Gilas Pilipinas Boys in their Round of 16 clash as the Philippines bow out of the FIBA U17 World Cup contention on Wednesday in Turkey. The Filipinos thus ended their bid while USA advanced to the quarterfinals where the six-time defending champions will slug it out against either Argentina or Canada.
Gilas just couldn't put the clamps on USA in the first half of action with Cameron Boozer and Koa Peat pouring in 16 and 14 points apiece as they mounted a huge 80-23 halftime cushion. In fact, only six players of head coach Josh Reyes were able to score in those two periods with CJ Amos collecting six markers against USA, which has yet to drop a single game in its six-edition reign in the tournament.
