Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire brings one of the biggest challenges yet for both the new and original Ghostbusters as they take on an ancient threat. The film continues the story set up in Afterlife, following Phoebe, Trevor, Callie Spengler, and Gary Grooberson as they return to the iconic New York City firehouse.
Gil Kenan: It's more the latter. I mean, Jason and I felt like stewards of the Ghostbusters flame after we made Afterlife. That film was about rekindling that spark that began way back in 1984. And when we sat down to write this new film Frozen Empire, we already knew that a few things were going to move this story a big step forward.
But then on the other side of it, being able to help inspire for the actors the ability to see the thing that would one day be on the screen through visual effects. That was a lot of work, but it was so fun. Gil Kenan: It's one of the most incredible writing processes I've ever had. Jason and I spent a lot of the pandemic interviewing every single person who's still alive, who was at the time - some of them have passed away since - who was there that first night.
If you were a ghost, what would your haunting style be? What kind of spooky stuff would you be up to? Logan Kim: The fact that we don't have anything to fight ghosts in real life, I'd say that would be worse, honestly. Zombies, you just stab in the head, you're fine, right? So there you go.
